We love our guest readers...

Last week we were lucky to have two special visitors read aloud to our class.   Alyssa from the University  of Toledo Softball team read the story, "Players in Pigtails".  She also demonstrated her bunting and and slap hitting techniques. :)

Mr. Chapman read a story called, "The Book With No Pictures".  This story was highly engaging and had the children laughing out loud.  Thank you Mr. Chapman!

Count to 1,000 Club

Congratulations to our newest students that have reached their goal of writing numbers 1-1,000!!!

Halloween Party

We had a GREAT time celebrating Halloween during our classroom party!  The children were able to visit many different party stations where they made a candy corn bead necklace, play "Hot Pumpkin", participate in a coloring contest, decorate and eat a yummy cookie, play "Pumpkin Bowling", make a doorknob decoration, and weave a pumpkin mat.  Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that came to help!

Halloween art project

We took some time on a Friday to create Halloween decorations for our classroom...

The Count to 1,000 Club!

One of our math goals in 2nd grade is to read, write, and count numbers to 1,000.  To reach this goal, the students create number scrolls where they write the numbers 1-1,000. The children work at their own pace as they have extra time throughout the day. They are VERY proud when they accomplish this goal!!!  Here are the students that have joined the Count to 1,000 Club so far.  (I will post new pics as more students finish.)

Laptops!

Today the students enjoyed using the little laptops during math class.  They learned how to log in to the Everyday Math Online website, and they explored two games that practice math fact fluency.

Here are the students in Mrs. Boberg's class hard at work!

And Mrs. Jewell's class too...
