We can learn math concepts through games!

In math we have learned a few games to help us practice math concepts such as counting on a number grid, math facts that equal 10, and grouping ones, tens , and hundreds.  Ask your child about the Number Grid Game, Penny Plate, or The Money Exchange Game.  We also practice cooperation, taking turns, and good sportsmanship as we play our math games!

We are good citizens!

Today we made "Good Luck" messages for our 3rd grade neighbors. We want to give them positive vibes as they take the MEAP test this week. Tomorrow the 3rd graders will find our surprise messages on their desks when they arrive at school!

A great way to begin the day...

Each morning the children arrive in class and begin their morning jobs:
* Hang up their coat and backpack
* Check their backpack for homework, notes, library books, lunch money
* Sign up for lunch
* Sharpen pencils
* Work on assignments in their "Need to Finish" file
*  Read quietly at their seats

When it is time for us to gather on the carpet for the Morning Letter, we play the "Count on Me" song.  The children clean up, gather on the carpet, and sing along!

Welcome!

Thank you for taking the time to visit our classroom blog!  I hope to use this technology to share some of the wonderful things that we do in 2nd grade.
