Happy Halloween!

We had a great time at our Halloween Party!  The children enjoyed making a candy corn necklace, creating a ghostly craft, dancing along to a few Just Dance for Kids songs, and decorating a cookie and having a snack.  THANK YOU to all the moms, dads, and other adults that came to help us!  Check us out...

Even Mrs. Kirkwood joined in for a little dancing!

It's raining, it pouring... But we need a brain break!

Today it was raining at the time we take our short outdoor brain break.  So instead we gave our brains a break and our bodies some exercise by DANCING!!!!  We danced along to a few Just Dance Kids songs and it was fun!  Our class can sure move and groove!   After a few minutes of dancing the students were ready to get settled and stay focused for their last lesson of the day...

Math Fact Power

Our current focus in math is math facts!  Today we learned that "fact power" is when you know a math fact from memory. We learned a game called Beat the Calculator. The object is to call out the answer to a math fact faster than the student that uses a calculator.  If you beat the calculator... You have FACT POWER!!!!!

Thank you Pizza Primo!

We appreciate the partnership between MRE and Pizza Primo!  Our class had the most orders for the September MRE Pizza Primo night. We enjoyed our reward today!

The first members of the "Count to 1,000 Club"

One of our 2nd grade math goals is to read and write numbers to 1,000.  The children work on completing this project at their own pace. Today we had a few hard-working students finish their number scrolls to 1,000!

Airplane scientists...

In Mrs. Jewell's science class, the students have been doing an experiment with airplanes. The experiment involves making an airplane, measuring how far it flies, modifying the airplane, and retesting the distance it can fly. This activity taught us how to measure in meters and why it is important for scientists to do several trials. We also practiced how to draw a conclusion and how to use data to support that conclusion.  Check out the scientists at work...
